Alan is a mechanical engineer by profession and been involved with working boat Bramble as a volunteer for about ten years.
During that time, he has mainly focused on the ongoing maintenance and improvement of Bramble with the rest of the team, as well as helming on public trips. He’s 64 and still working part-time.
Alan says: “Bramble volunteering gives me a valuable release and distraction from work life, spending time with like-minded people, albeit from different walks of life, is so rewarding. Sharing experiences of grafting on the boat one day, to a contrasting serene boat trip up to “The Bird” with a public group. I feel honoured to be part of a blossoming volunteer team that share the same ideals about Stourport’s canal heritage and an interest in keeping a special boat alive!”
